Long Island-based foot and ankle surgeon Dr. Steven Jeffrey Stummer, DPM possesses a remarkable list of credentials and accomplishments and has dedicated his life to serving both his patients and the community. After graduating with honors from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, he distinguished himself by becoming a member of the esteemed Pi Delta Honor Society. As the Chief Resident of Podiatric Surgery and Medicine at Brown University/Rogers Williams Medical Center, he honed his surgical skills and expanded his expertise in reconstructive podiatric surgery, limb salvage and sports medicine and has the certification of Fellow of The American Podiatric Wound Care Association and American Board of Wound Healing.
Dr. Stummer’s achievements aren’t just limited to the operating room, where he trains residents to perform the latest surgical procedures; he has been a key figure in the treatment of diabetic wound care and limb salvage, holding a staff physician position at the NSUH at Plainview Wound Care Center and on staff at St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage where he is on call for the Emergency Departments at both facilities. His expertise in hyperbaric oxygen and stem cell therapy add an extra dimension to his medical arsenal, demonstrating his determination to explore cutting-edge solutions for his patients.
The Long Island native has continued to expand his career through his commitment to sports medicine as past team physician for the MLL Long Island Lizards, Long Island Rough Riders Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs. Dr. Stummer’s expertise plays an essential role in ensuring the athletes’ optimal health and performance. His dedication expands beyond soccer fields to include roles as a club physician at BW Cosmos Academy and as a league physician for the Half Hollow Hills FURY football and basketball leagues. Through these positions, he combines his passion for medicine with his love for sports.
Dr. Stummer practices at three locations; Northport, Melville and Bellmore where he provides patients with personalized care deciding which treatments are necessary for painful foot conditions such as sports injuries, bunions, hammertoes, plantar fasciitis and growth plate issues. These foot ailments can significantly affect an individual’s quality of life, causing pain, discomfort, and limitations in daily activities. Dr. Stummer also provides customized functional foot orthotics that offer a multitude of benefits in the prevention of foot conditions and the improvement of balance, sports performance, and stability.
Dr. Stummer is available for appointments in the early morning, afternoon, evenings, and weekends. For your convenience, he practices in three locations: Northport, Melville and Bellmore.
